Team Sport Beans / NTTC
I am excited to let everyone know that I am on board with and will be racing for Team Sport Beans / NTTC this year! This is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I’m fortunate to have the incredible support from Sport Beans and National Triathlon Training Camp behind me. This is going to be a fun year of racing!
We just had a four day team camp in Fairfield, California where the Jelly Belly headquarters are located. Not only was it a great chance to bond with the team, but we also got to tour the Jelly Belly factory. Complete with hairnets and lab coats, the team and I were treated to a private, on the floor, tour of the 200,000 sq. foot facility to see how Sport Beans (and all the other 50+ flavors of Jelly Bellys) are born! I loved seeing the fresh, shiny, colorful beans, carefully arranged on trays, stacked high, sorted by flavor, row after row. It was also fun to hear about Jelly Belly fascinating fast facts throughout the tour (they get a shipment of 100,000 lbs. of sugar per DAY; it takes 7 – 21 days to make a bean, depending on the flavor). It was heaven for someone (ME) with a sweet tooth (or as I say, I have a mouth full of “sweet teeth”). Did I mention we got to do a little sampling throughout the tour, too?
Camp is over now, all the sugar and treats are almost out of my system, and it’s just seven weeks until my first triathlon race of the season – California 70.3. In the meantime, I’ll be working hard, making sure I’m ready to race well in that new Sport Bean kit!
